Research on Non-simultaneous Outage Measures for 110 to 220 kVDouble-circuit Lines on the Same Tower

  • To solve the problems of total substation outages or overcurrent on adjacent 110 to 220 kV lines caused by simultaneous outages of 110 to 220 kV double-circuit lines on the same tower, and to facilitate greater integration of photovoltaic and other renewable energy sources, this paper takes a 220 kV local power grid as an example. It studies non-simultaneous outage measures for double-circuit lines on the same tower from the aspects of transmission line lightning protection and anti-galloping. An unbalanced insulation configuration in which one circuit has a higher insulation level is proposed. At the suspension insulator strings or jumper insulator strings of the three-phase conductors in the higher-insulation circuit, one set of line-type zinc oxide surge arresters is installed on every tower. Double-spring damping devices are also added to the interphase spacers. These measures enable non-simultaneous outages of the two circuits on the same tower. An economic comparison shows that the costs of lightning protection and anti-galloping measures are much lower than the cost of reconstructing the electrical configuration of the local power grid.
