Design and Application of a Top-Mounted UAV Thermal Fusion Cutter Robotic Device

  • The attachment of foreign objects such as plastic films and sunshade nets on overhead transmission lines poses critical threats to power line safety. Conventional clearance methods relying on manual live-line work or flame-throwing drones demonstrate limitations, while laser cannons exhibit poor combustion efficiency on transparent shed membranes, accompanied by challenges such as low efficiency, high safety risks, and limited environmental adaptability. This paper presents a top-mounted UAV thermal fusion cutter robotic device. The line inspection robot employs carbon fiber composite insulation materials and achieves equipotential connectivity with conductors through a bracket mechanism incorporating insulated rollers. Capable of both aerial navigation and terrestrial locomotion along transmission lines, the device demonstrates adaptive movement across various conductor specifications, slope-climbing functionality, and thermal fusion cutting capacity for plastic membranes. Engineered to accommodate diverse conductor configurations, it maintains stable operation when traversing obstacles including compression splices and vibration dampers. Practical validations confirm its controllability, operational flexibility, and potential for intelligent automation in power line maintenance applications.
