Abstract:
Transmission and distribution lines feature numerous points, extensive coverage, large distribution areas, and diverse equipment types in power system. When sudden defects or faults in line equipment require rapid intervention especially during nighttime switching operations or line work-visibility reduction, equipment identification challenges, and obstructed sightlines often lead to prolonged operation times, low efficiency, and significant safety risks when using insulation operating rods for switchgear operations. To address these challenges, this study develops a multifunctional visual monitoring and operation platform based on IoT and video surveillance technologies. The platform integrates features such as directional-adjustable high-definition video surveillance, intelligent controllable low-light augmentation, multi-axis rotating PTZ cameras, and wireless data transmission. It can be quickly assembled with an insulation operating rod during manual maintenance processes. Through real time HD video feedback and online analysis, it effectively resolves visual judgment difficulties in nighttime aerial operations, while supporting remote expert consultation and on-site command. This significantly enhances the safety and timeliness of transmission and distribution line maintenance operations.
