Abstract:
Dissection Process and Fault Mechanism Analysis of 110 kV Dry-type Flexible Cable TerminationsAbstract: This study proposes a specialized dissection platform capable of 360-degree rotation and fixation at any angle to facilitate the detailed examination of flexible cable terminations. Multiple failed 110 kV dry-type flexible cable terminations are dissected using this platform, and a standardized dissection procedure is developed after the analysis. This procedure specifies the fault characteristics that needed to be extracted at each stage. Based on the discharge paths and the spatial distribution of breakdown points, termination faults are categorized into five distinct types. For each fault category, the study investigates the underlying failure mechanisms. The proposed methodology provides a foundational framework for failure mechanism analysis, fault prevention and early warning diagnostics, and the formulation of optimized replacement strategies for cable terminations.
